๐ Division & Divisibility Studio
Instead of writing long subtraction steps, you do the multiplication in your head and write the tiny remainder on top of the next digit. It takes 1/3 of the space on paper!
Division is simply sharing equally so nobody cries!
If you have 6 candies and 2 teddy bears, give 1 to Bear A, 1 to Bear B, until all candies are handed out. Each bear gets 3 candies (6 รท 2 = 3)!
Multiplication is repeated addition; division is repeated subtraction!
To solve 12 รท 3, start at 12 and keep jumping backwards by 3:
12 โ 3 = 9 (Hop 1) → 9 โ 3 = 6 (Hop 2) → 6 โ 3 = 3 (Hop 3) → 3 โ 3 = 0 (Hop 4).
It took 4 hops to reach zero, so 12 รท 3 = 4!
โข Dividend: The whole number to divide.
โข Divisor: How many groups or group size.
โข Quotient: How many times the divisor fits.
โข Remainder: What's left over that cannot make a whole group.
โ ๏ธ Golden Remainder Law: The Remainder must ALWAYS be strictly smaller than the Divisor (Remainder < Divisor)!
โข 0 รท 5 = 0: If you have 0 apples and 5 kids, each kid gets 0 apples. Perfectly logical!
โข 5 รท 0 = Undefined: If you have 5 apples and want to pack them into 0 boxes... you cannot even place an apple! In mathematics, dividing by 0 breaks all laws and is undefined.
Every division problem is actually a fraction in disguise:
97 รท 4 = 97/4 = 24 ยผ = 24.25.
When a remainder is left, add a decimal point and bring down zeros to continue dividing into tenths and hundredths!
In higher math and computer science, the remainder is called the Modulo:
97 mod 4 = 1 (written as 97 โก 1 (mod 4)).
Computers use modulo arithmetic in encryption, time calculations, and hash tables!

โข Short Blue Hand = The Hour Turtle: Moves very slowly! It takes 1 whole hour just to walk from one number to the next.
โข Long Pink Hand = The Minute Bunny: Moves fast! It zooms through all 60 minutes around the whole clock every hour.
Did you know? Every number on the clock is part of the 5 times table!
โข Number 3 → 3 ร 5 = 15 mins (Quarter Past)
โข Number 6 → 6 ร 5 = 30 mins (Half Past)
โข Number 9 → 9 ร 5 = 45 mins (Quarter To)
Imagine slicing the clock right down the middle from 12 to 6:
โข Right Half (1 to 5): Minutes PAST the hour (e.g. 10 past 4, 25 past 4).
โข Left Half (7 to 11): Minutes TO the NEXT hour (e.g. at 4:50, say "10 to 5", because 10 minutes remain until 5:00).
A whole day has 24 hours, so the clock needles go around twice:
โข AM (Morning): From 12:00 midnight to 11:59 AM (Breakfast, school start).
โข PM (Afternoon & Night): From 12:00 noon to 11:59 PM (Lunch, playtime, dinner, sleeping).
To find how much time passed from a Start Time to an End Time:
1. Mountain Jumps (1 Hour each): Jump forward by whole hours without passing the end time.
2. Hill Jumps (10 or 15 mins): Jump forward by friendly minute chunks.
3. Rock Jumps (1 min): Count remaining single minutes.
4. Add them together! Example: From 2:15 PM to 4:45 PM → +1 hr (3:15) + +1 hr (4:15) + +30 mins (4:45) = 2 hours and 30 minutes!

The denominator tells us the size and cut of the pizza slice, not how many slices there are! If you take 1 quarter slice and someone gives you 2 more quarter slices, you have 3 quarter slices (3/4) โ you don't magically end up with 8-slice pieces (3/8)!

๐ Prime vs Composite Numbers
- Prime Number: A whole number with exactly two factors: 1 and itself. (e.g. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11...).
- Composite Number: A number with more than two factors. Can be arranged into rectangles.
- Why 1 is Special: 1 has only ONE factor (itself), so it is neither prime nor composite!
- The Unique Even Prime: 2 is the only even prime number! Every other even number divides by 2.
๐ค Co-Prime & Twin Prime Numbers
- Co-Prime Numbers: Two numbers whose HCF is 1 (no shared factors other than 1).
Example: 8 and 15 are co-prime! (Factors of 8: 1,2,4,8; Factors of 15: 1,3,5,15. HCF = 1). Neither needs to be prime itself! - Twin Primes: Prime numbers that have a difference of exactly 2.
Examples: (3, 5), (5, 7), (11, 13), (17, 19), (29, 31), (41, 43), (59, 61), (71, 73).
๐ก Word Problems Secret: When to use HCF vs LCM?
Look for words like "together again", "next time", "repeating", "circular track", "flashing lights".
Example: Two bells ring every 12s and 18s. When will they chime together? $\rightarrow$ LCM = 36s!
Look for words like "maximum length", "largest equal pieces", "split equally with no leftovers".
Example: Cut 12m and 18m ribbons into equal maximum pieces. $\rightarrow$ HCF = 6m!
